Tracks: Nouveau Hip/ Dragonette Gone Train/ My Blue Seven

In January, 2020, we played a house concert in Toronto and then recorded at  The Canterbury Music Company two days later, with the spontaneous energy of the concert still in our hearts and bones. Release of the CD has taken a good while, due to pandemic factors. However, the music is still fresh and relevant.

By the way, the whimsical cover art was created by Jack Grunsky, who also mixed this and the previous 3 CDs!

'Toons

Alison Young : Saxes
Stacie McGregor : Piano, Rhodes
Charlie Cooley : Drums
Henry Heillig : Bass
Jack Grunsky : Perc on 4

Tracks: Meet the Sprintphones/ Namaimo Crossing/ Moose and Squirrel/ Ouagadougou Pentamento

This 2013 EP represents the first studio effort by the present ensemble. It includes one of my favourite songs, Aaron Davis' Pentimento. Manteca performed this tune, but in a 9-piece band, the bassist was way down the list to play the melody. On this version, I made it happen!

Welcome Wagon

William Carn : trombone
Craig Harley : keys
Howard Gaul : drums

Tracks: Welcome Wagon/ Ladybug Waltz A.M’s Waltz/ Sans Gitare

This four-song EP is only available in digital format. It features the wonderful Toronto trombonist William Carn.

Just after inmotion was released in 2004, JAZZ.FM radio created a CD called New Standards, being their take on Canadian compositions deserving of the description.

They chose Ladybug Waltz as the opening track on that CD!
